A thought before sleeping

Site updates

It's almost midnight. I've been talking almost all day with friends old and new, mostly about what's happening in our country. One of the few breaks I've had was to sit at this site a few hours ago and blow off steam about the atrocity we all just saw committed in our name.

And two hours later, I look back at the site and see about sixty people here, even at 3 am back east, and I read the comments, and even though we sometimes have open disagreements, I feel surrounded by kind and intelligent friends.

Given all that's going on of late, it's a feeling which I appreciate more than ever. I'm genuinely grateful.
